  • Fine-tuned custom Google search for website

  • Restructured course planning page to incorporate post-secondary admissions links as well as the course planning guide.

  • Investigated Google Analytics data gathered from last 2 days - impressive range of data and reports! This will be useful for future planning of the website.

  • Talked to Andrea about upgrading computers in her room. I am going to divert 2 computers earmarked for upgrading room #322 to the photo room #006.

  • Gathering ebulletin requests - 1 from Doug Matear, and waiting on Maria for others.

  • Created example page of how we can use flickr to create beautiful slideshows on our web site. The experiment was successful. Waiting for Jon's feedback to proceed with Visual Arts page using this technology.

  • Made Byng website searchable by creating a customized google search engine and embedding it within the main page. Making the website searchable was a suggestion made in December 2007. The search engine works but is not very accurate yet. Refinement will be an ongoing process.

  • Talked with office regarding updating emails, getting staff bulletins, and February calendar.

  • Cleaned up main page of website.

  • Signed up for Google Analytics to maintain statistics on website use.

  • Talked to office about regularly sending me important documents so I can upload them to the web site, including monthly calendars and exam schedules.

  • Received midyear exam schedule from Cecilia, converted it to a PDF file, and uploaded the schedule to school website. It is now linked from the main page and exams page. I sent out an ebulletin to notify parents.

  • Fixed errors on Course Planning Guide for the web as per Steven's request.

  • Uploaded new ESL pages for the school website that include Natalie's spelling corrections from her previous draft.

  • Emailed updated locator file to Erin and Fred in the library.

  • Discussed the future of the Byng Visual Arts program's online presence with Jon Hartley-Foltz. Jon expressed the desire to have a site that he can showcase the beautiful work that is happening here and that he can update with minimal effort. My current thoughts are to use flickr.com and some sort of embedded image presentation widget to make this happen. I am currently researching whether our web server will allow us to do this.

  • Created this blog to allow people to keep track of how this time is being used.
